Manual Booking with weighting by Turns
Objective:
In this module, we will view an example of how manual leveling notes collected using the one-wire method are reduced and entered in STAR*NET. This exercise also allows us to focus on the importance of specifying permanent and non-permanent reference marks when performing fieldwork in order to simplify reducing field data to STAR*NET.
NOTES:
- Backsights and foresights have been recorded in these fieldnotes.
- All backsights between benchmarks are summed.
- All foresights between benchmarks are summed.
- The sum of foresights is subtracted from the sum of backsights for each benchmark-to-benchmark run to determine the elevation difference.
- The number of foresights is counted to determine the number of turns.
- Any known elevations are entered as E records.
- Computed elevation differences are entered as L records.
- Total number of turns between benchmarks is added to the L record following the elevation difference.
- It's that simple!
