The Course
A total station is an excellent sensor for small scale surveys, especially in cases where high precision is required and satellite views are restricted due to urban topography. FieldGenius allows you to work with a wide variety of Hexagon branded total stations and offers the same simple linework and feature identification tools that make the software so powerful when paired to a GNSS sensor. In a series of practical stages this course introduces you to key procedures, efficiency enhancing techniques and practical tips when working with FieldGenius and a total station.
Participants who complete this curriculum report less time lost experimenting with tools and procedures and a greater sense of confidence that they are using their software most effectively. This course is designed to follow a series of practical steps that allow you to master all the procedures required for building surveys, subdivision plans, construction stakeout and high precision control work... pretty much everything you can do with a robotic total station.
What you will learn
Over many years meeting with experienced users we've found that FieldGenius users are remarkably capable, but can quickly increase productivity with targeted, specific training. In this course we'll go over the stages of preparation for a geodetic survey, evidence discovery, efficient collection of topo data, QA checks and computations and production of a completed georeferenced survey ready for creating deliverables or digital submission. We won't skimp on important details such as scaling and bearing rotations and will teach a practical workflow that can be used in a wide variety of settings. Don't just learn the procedures but understand WHY you follow the procedures. The result? Become fast, efficient and reliable when using FieldGenius.
